Expect a Miracle Story of the Week

Week 7,  2009

Hello {member_name},

The Winner of the Readers' Choice Story of the Week
Congratulations Joan Dow

Your Story "A Miracle Happened That Weekend" has been chosen as the Winner of the Readers' Choice Story of the Week.

Story of the Week
2003 brought a significant health challenge for me. My daughter was holidaying on the Gold Coast when I called her from the Emergency Department at my local hospital in Melbourne to let her know that, after having a blood test, I received a call from the Laboratory Technician advising me that my platelets had dropped to 1 (normal level is 150 upwards) and that I had to admit myself to hospital urgently as anything could happen at any time. I was placed on Cortisone to try and stabilise and was hospitalised for a few weeks. I was able to go home and continue with the Cortisone therapy.

I suffered a second relapse where my platelet level dropped to 10 and I was re-admitted to hospital. At this time, I had also become very jaundiced and had taken on a lovely yellow colour!. My sister had arrived from Queensland and both my daughter and she had discussions about my survival. The doctor’s did not know how to treat my condition, especially as they did not know what it was or what was causing it. There was mention of Leukaemia, or even a liver transplant as I was diagnosed with very bad Cirrhosis, which frightened me. On the Friday, my brother-in-law arrived from Queensland to visit and he gave me an Expect-a-Miracle card, which he gives out absolutely everywhere he goes, and I kept it beside me on the bedside table.

That same Friday, the specialist tried me on a new regime of medication which is called Imuran – this medication is an immune-suppressant and the specialist had an inkling that it might help. By the Monday, my platelet level had risen and my colour had started to become more “natural’. After more testing, I was diagnosed with ITP and will need to take this medication for the rest of my life. A miracle happened that weekend – the doctor’s could not figure out what my condition was, my family spoke to me about writing my will and my daughter ensured that she had paid my funeral coverage up to date. I have not had any problems with my liver since and my platelet count is up over 150. So far, so good!!

Listen what others have to say about the Expect a Miracle Card...

A HUGE THANK YOU for purchasing my book You Can... Expect A Miracle. Sales have been fantastic worldwide.

As you know I launched the book in the USA in September and the Australian edition was released in late December.

Currently major publicity is happening in the USA and Australia and I need to ask a huge favour. If you brought the book off Amazon, Expect A Miracle website or via our flyer mailing and you have at sometime in the past purchased through Amazon, please go onto the Amazon site and post a review for the book.

Many kind souls have posted some amazing 5 out of 5 reviews. Your help in pushing this number over 100 in the immediate future would be a massive help in assisting me in the PR plan I have put in motion.

I am currently in negotiations with major TV and Media personalities who use Amazon Book Reviews as a great guide to audience acceptance.

I have recently spoken on a high traffic New York evening radio program and on Sydney's radio station 2UE one of Australia's leading radio stations. On New Year’s Eve I did a very interesting half hour interview on Radio Norfolk.

Newspaper articles are starting to appear in Australian dailies and two extensive articles will be published in Japan in February in two different publications. Numerous other things are happening media wise in the USA and Australia at present and when these are confirmed, I will keep you posted.

It is amazing the number of people who are purchasing books in case lots of 60 with a 50% discount to use them as meaningful gifts for clients, family and friends.

Once again THANKS A BUNCH in advance for placing your book review on amazon.com.

Kind regards
Dr John Hinwood
