|I'm sitting in my mother's house in Arizona, and I wanted to share a story with you. I have been enjoying your Expect A Miracle book over the past week, and I thought I may need to put it too the test. It reminds me of the time you went to New York, and you were able to get a ticket after a game was already sold out. My situation was similar in that I was wanting to see a college football game, which on the internet was said to be sold out.
|This game, played last weekend in Michigan, was an in-state rivalry which had been going on for nearly a hundred years. It is annually a hotly contested football game, and both teams were undefeated sitting atop the league standings. As I was visiting my father, who only lived 15 miles from my alma mater, it would be a great chance to see a game which I hadn't seen in more than 20 years. The only possible problem was, as I was preparing for my trip from my home on Guam to Michigan, the internet was telling me that the game may be sold out for the past two weeks.
As I walked into the athletic office, the day before the game, there was a long line of students waiting to pick up their tickets. A rather large gentlemen noticed that I no longer matched this particular crowd, and he motioned for me to come in his direction. He asked if he could help me, and I told him I wanted a ticket to the game. But not just any ticket, I wanted "the best ticket available regardless the cost." As he looked me over, he noticed I was clutching an Expect A Miracle card. In the next moment he was in front of a computer, scanning for a seat.
As he searched, a group of large gentlemen entered the room and proceeded to ask my helper what he was doing on the computer. As it turns out, the man helping me was an assistant coach to the team, and he never sells tickets. He told the other coaches, "This guy's going to the game, and I'm getting him a seat." Then a look of surprise came over his face, "Wow, a seat on the 50 yard line in the first row.
I can't believe it." When he handed me MY ticket and receipt, I handed him your card. "The next miracle is yours", I told him. He said he would settle for a victory the next day. Our team won 38-28!
