We Were in The Flow

We had just returned home after my Dad’s funeral and I received a call from the hospital in Melbourne where my Mum had spent several weeks.

The call was formal and sounded like the hospital staff had news-my Mum had just been diagnosed with vascular dementia and was also far too frail to

return home-the prognosis was for a very swift decline. At the same time, we had one daughter returning from overseas with a new husband and another

daughter who had already decided to move-all gravitating to Melbourne, our original home town. It all seemed to make perfect sense that we make the move

as well- to be able to offer support first hand. We had given ourselves a day to fly down interstate and return that evening, to find something suitable

while requirements for family needs were quite specific.

A lot of planning went into what we wished to view, the timing, hiring a car and getting the schedules right. One house after the other had something which

did not fit – it felt like a race to the end. The final house was like a revelation-everything that we had envisioned and hoped for-size, rooms, facilities, even a restful garden.

I knew straight away that our miracle house had manifested and we could not wait to finalise the arrangements. I also knew that our decision to move was absolutely the right one… that we were in the flow of what needed to be done. Yet another miracle to be grateful for!
