My Miracle Awakening

For me, my miracle is about talking with a person who was distant from me. It comes down to me being grateful. The simplicity of just being able to listen and understand, without wanting to coach or make right, or even attempt to force them to do something against their will. What I realised was that there was a lot of history and back log for this person.

I came from a background of always being “Mr Answer”; always having the right response. Listening was merely a function of me providing a response to a problem. Therefore, I only half listened and did not really hear what this person was saying. I realised this brought no comfort and made everything a lot worse, and the result was that I withdraw into myself.

Finally, one day, I just decided to shut up and park my own agenda, and simply just be grateful that, on that day, they allowed me to hear them speak and share with me. It was such a humbling and profound point in time for me. For the first time in my life, I was listening to them. I had rarely previously experienced such peace and gratitude.

This was a miracle awakening for me.
