The Miracle Of The Expect A Miracle Card

I first had the pleasure of hearing  John Hinwood at a marketing seminar a couple of years ago where he was a guest speaker.  He intrigued my fascination with his experience with the Expect A Miracle card, and not just locally, but everywhere John would travel around the world speaking and holidaying.

I just had to learnt more, so after John’s presentation I brought his book, You Can Expect A Miracle…The Book To Change Your Life and some Expect A Miracle cards. After the seminar that night I was going to catch up with some relatives in Melbourne and I decided to do what John said to do, “give everyone you meet an Expect A Miracle card. So that’s what I did.

When my cousin came to pick me up from the hotel I gave her an  Expect A Miracle card. Well, you should have been there to see her face. When I gave Vicky the card she looked at it, then looked at me, then again she looked at the card and then looked at me. She was a bit puzzled and confused, and then she looked on the back of the card expecting to find a name of email or website but there was nothing there, just a blank white card! She asked me, “What’s this  Expect A Miracle?” I  explained the significance to her and she said, “ Oh, OK”.  She was still a bit dazed and confused but then she placed the card on the car dash and we proceeded to specialty grocer.

Along the way we did the normal catching up conversation. She then brought up the card again. “So what is this Expect A Miracle Card all about?” I answered,  “just, Expect A Miracle, it’s as simple as that”, I told her .“That’s it” “ Yes I replied, just Expect A Miracle, it’s that simple”.

“OK,  I will, I will Expect A Miracle”,  she said with a beaming smile on her face.

As we managed to get through the evenings traffic and a minor detour, we finally arrived at the specialty grocer. The car park was almost empty, except for a few vehicles picking up staff who had finished for the night.  She said, “Oh no, we are too late, it looks like they have closed”.   “Yes it does, but as we are here we must expect a miracle, so let’s go and try”.

So we walked up to the door, the doors where locked, and the only way was out, not in. So with the Expect A Miracle principle in mind I knocked on the door. A man in the store approached the door’s and said, “sorry, we closed 15 minutes ago", I replied, “we would like to come in and purchased some groceries”, “ no, no, we closed 15 minutes ago, come back tomorrow”. Vicky said “come on, let’s try somewhere else”. “No, Expect A Miracle” I replied. “ Please sir, could we please come in just for a minute”, he looked down, shook his head, took a long breath in, he exhaled slowly, turned too another staff member and said something, turned back to us and said, “fine, but be quick”. Whoohoo we where in, Vicky could not believe it, I told her , “ Expect A Miracle”.

Now I know you are probably thinking that it’s not a huge Miracle, but yet, it still was a miracle. You see, we often over look all the little miracles in our day-to-day lives. The more we seek the more we find, or the more we give the more we receive, so the more miracle cards we give the more miracle’s we receive.

It’s funny, till this day Vicky still has that first card I gave her and she reads it every morning, and calls me every time a miracle happens in her life.

I wonder how many miracles have you missed? How many miracles will you now receive?
