The Power of Family

My name is Heather Fulwider.  I am from Miami, Florida and about six months ago moved to Mount Tamborine, Queensland, Australia.

One of my miracle stories is about my family.  For a long time I was moved around with my family as my Dad was in the military.  Although I depended on them I always found my friends to be more my family.

At 21 years of age I became pregnant and had a son who is now almost 5. I had dropped out of school, was working in a bar, had no direction in my life and I felt that when I became pregnant my family would not be supportive but in fact they were the opposite.

My two brothers were very supportive and became very excited uncles, my Mom told me to come back home and my Dad told me to go back to school.  So at 21,  I was working full time and ten days after I quit my job, I gave birth to my son and three months later I went back to school.

With the support of my family, I lived at my mother’s house for 3 years.  I raised my son with my mother’s support, she was like a stand-in Dad, my Dad would help me at nights,

When I finished my degree, I discovered many of my other passions, along with my son, health, exercise and just being with my family and during the last six years I have begun to realise the power of family and it has helped my to shape my son and helped him understand the power of family and has also helped me bring my partner into our lives.

There has been a lot going on in my family where no-one turns their back and walks away but stands alongside each other and it’s something that you learn as you grow up and move around a lot you take it for granted.  Having my own son and starting my own family I have learned the hard way and it has really opened my eyes and to me that is a miracle because some people go their whole lives without knowing their family.

I truly know my family and the love my family has for me and the love I have for my family, my son and my partner, that is my miracle story.
