Out of Gas

A couple of years ago I was driving from Dallas to Tucson in my new Honda CRV. The gauges on the dash were much different from my old car. The gas gauge and the temperature gauge were exactly the same in my new car – one of top of the other.

I was driving along for hours listening to my inspirational CD. I occasionally glanced at the gauges and saw half full. Then suddenly I realized I was looking at the temperature – not the gas.

The gas showed almost empty and the warning light on the dash came on. I was in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico. I could not remember how long it had been since I had seen a town or gas station and no idea where the next one would be.

My wonderful new car also had a feature that estimated how many miles I could go on the remaining gas. It said 35 miles, I panicked! I had no cell phone reception and no one around, I began affirming that there would soon be a gas station.

The miles kept going by … nothing!! 20 miles – 15 miles then 8 miles left and a gas station appeared. With great relief I pulled in to the station, which was from the 70’s – no place to swipe your credit card. It had to be turned on manually, I filled up not knowing or caring how much it cost!

I drove on relieved and believe that I manifested the gas station and do not know if it still exists or not.
