Mister Miracle Man

A number of years ago, we moved house and found a wonderful Asian restaurant in our new town. The restaurant was owned and run by a very friendly family.

On paying for our special meal on our first visit I gave the owner one of my Expect a Miracle cards. Her immediate response was, What this miracle?

For the next five minutes I attempted to explain what is a miracle to this loving and caring Asian woman who had little English. On leaving the restaurant, I didn't feel that I had done a very good job at all with my explanation and the Expect a Miracle card would probably end up in the rubbish bin that night.

A week later my wife Judy ordered some takeaway food for me to collect on my way home from the gym. When I entered the Happy Friends Chinese Restaurant the woman owner whom I'd given the card to a week earlier came running up to me, Thank you, thank you, thank you Mister Miracle Man. We have a family miracle, thank you to you. What this miracle was, I still have no idea; the beautiful glowing woman never revealed this to me.

The owner then took me around to every table in the Restaurant and introduced me to each diner individually as, This is the Miracle Man. She was bursting with smiles and enthusiasm and was very demonstrative; quite unusual for a Chinese woman in public.

Finally collecting my food, which I wasn't allowed to pay for, this ecstatic woman gave me a bottle of very expensive champagne as her special gift to me.

For the next year before they sold the restaurant and moved on, I was always greeted by the owners when we went to the restaurant as, Mister Miracle Man'.
